What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am very happy to be included in this program. This money will mean alot to me since I have been living in this village for a year now but nothing has come close to the money am about to receive. This money has given me plans to consider having a land of oir own to farm and build a better house. As a fisherman, on good days I make around MWK20,000 per trip from the lake. This is used to buy some food and other household items in the house. I will also use some of the money to support my children who are staying with their grandmother from my former marriage. Some will also help us to clothe ourselves as we have very few clothes.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My only wishes have always been to live peacefully with my wife and to always be on the good side of the fish business. These have been going well over the past six months and my life has been great. I do not complain much and I have never gone into a heated argument with my wife. All these have made me a happy person.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The main problem so far is about lack of proper opportunities to earn a living in this village. Our main livelihood is on fishing and if there is less fish or the season is bad we suffer a lot. Sometimes we go the whole day without anything to properly eat.
