How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
I have not experienced much so far because I am still saving towards buying building materials so that I can build my dream house. I would like to say I have a lot of peace and hope as a result of Give Directly transfers simply because I have a reliable source of income that helps me plan on how to achieve my projects. As much as I am saving towards my project of building a new house, I also use part of my transfer on buying food. I thank Give Directly we have never missed a meal unlike before when I had not started receiving many from Give Directly life was very difficult since we depended on farming for a livelihood, and as you know the harvest at times is too little to sustain us to the next season.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I am planning to start a second-hand cloth business to have an additional source of income that will enable me to support my family with less difficulty. I still have school-going children and if I do not work extra hard my children won't go to school and education is the key to success as I always tell them. I thought of second-hand cloth business simply because it is easily manageable and not flooded in the market. I also have potential customers because in my village we have many young mothers that have young children, and the majority of them are also still giving birth. I majorly considered the above factors and came to the conclusion that I am going to sell children second-hand clothes starting from the newborn.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my life is that I am now confident and hopeful to achieve my goal of building my dream house. When Give Directly started giving me the monthly income, I have always been optimistic despite the challenges that I face in life. Currently, I am staying in a one-roomed house which is very uncomfortable since it is too small and cannot comfortably accommodate my growing family. I believe that I will soon accomplish this goal because I now have the means to do the necessary processes. I now surety of owning a better house, I am almost through with buying the building materials that I want to use to build my new house.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to change in the next six months because I will have started another business. I am planning to start a second-hand cloth business majorly for children's, this is to enable me to have an additional source of income to help me in supporting my family efficiently. I have a family to look after and children to pay their fees, therefore, having an additional source of income will enable me to cater for their needs on time. I also would be in a position to pay their fees school in time to avoid issues of them being sent home for fees balance.
