Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal for the next four months is to continue saving money in the group that we have started to start a poultry keeping project. This project will earn me an income to meet the basic needs of the family.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer is that I have bought a heifer. We started saving money in merry go round group that we started in our village immediately when we received the first transfer. When it was my turn to receive the money I used all the savings to buy a heifer. I depend on the casual jobs in the village to earn an income to meet all the basic needs of the family, getting extra money to buy a heifer was not easy for me. I am so much happy because I know that in the near future when the cow reproduces I will have enough milk for my family and even sell the surplus at the market to meet other basic household needs.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to change in the next six months in that I will have saved enough to buy a goat. I had wished to own one before but it was no possible because I did not had enough money. I will buy at least three so that I will sell in case of any emergency that might come up.

My goal is to continue saving in a merry round group. We are restarting another round of savings. I am deliberate about this decision because I trust all the members and it helps me to save. Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I can now afford to buy enough food for my family. I easily buy maize and milk for the four-month period. Without Give Directly, I would have a hard time and my children would have suffered a lot due to hunger. I am grateful for their kind gesture. I pray that God blesses them with more money so that they continue helping other people too.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to have improved since the heifer that I bought using the transfers from Give Directly will have grown and begun producing milk. This will be a source of income as I will be selling the milk and also consume as a family. I feel good because we will never sleep hungry nor do heavy casual jobs in order to earn a living.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Normally, I would plant late because of inadequate resources which make it hard to acquire the quality farm produce. Therefore, over the years I have been getting poor harvests that can not take me to the next season which has always forced me to borrow money from friends and relatives in this circumstance and feed my family. My life has changed because this season, I am hopeful that I will get enough harvest that my family and I will feed on. I used the money to buy farm inputs such as fertilizer and a good variety of maize seeds.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
In the next four months, I will use the money from my savings in a merry go round group to increase the number of chickens I keep. I also intend to buy a wire mesh to improve this chicken cope for proper ventilation purposes.

They say having a newborn baby is a blessing. I was blessed with one most recently and GiveDirectly's transfers have come in handy because I have been using the money to cover my baby's needs and this makes me a happy mother. Reflecting back at my life after delivering my other children, I had to embark on tedious causal jobs a week after delivering which was a health risk to me and my baby. In order to meet my family's needs . The biggest difference in my daily life is, I have gotten enough time to look after my baby and heal as well. Thanks to GiveDirectly.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the six months, I picture myself owning a cow. This is because I have instilled the culture of saving in merry go round groups which I didn't have before. When I shall have collected the required amount then my dream of owning a heifer will actualize.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different because providing food for my family has become easier. Initially, I used to do casual jobs in order to get money for food. Sometimes, these jobs would be unavailable. I would be forced to sell farm produce including trees on my farm just to buy maize. This was a very awkward position. Nowadays I use part of the transfers to buy food and other needs like buying clothes for my children. In addition, the chicken farming that I started using the transfers has become a good source of income. I use the money from selling eggs and sometimes chicken. This has made me an able mother and I am so happy about it.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My next goal is to buy wire mesh to enclose my poultry house. This will prevent my chicken from destroying my crops on the farm. I keep increasing the number of birds every month by buying more and through hatching also. This if unchecked will become a menace and therefore, it is a must that I get a to the fence of the poultry house to contain them and make it a good environment where I can feed them.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
My daily life has greatly changed as a result of the savings I have made in a merry go round group. Recently, my husband's savings came and we used it to buy a dairy cow that has brought joy to me and my household. The dairy cow is due to calving in the next few months ahead. This gives us a lot of hope of better household welfare and income for the milk that we will have. In fact, my own savings have become something to peg our hopes on. I will use it to buy another dairy cow as soon as I receive it from the group. This will make our dairy project complete as we always wanted to start with two cows. The dream is now being realized and this is the biggest difference in my life.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, my poultry farming will have been well established. This means that I will have completed the poultry house and will have so many chickens to use as a source of income. Having a source of income will ensure proper supply of daily needs. I expect to be generating an income constantly from egg production.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I rely on farming to feed my family. The biggest hardhip I have ever faced is when I planted maize and they were infected by a disease that resulted in the loss of my maize. This was coupled with a dry season that left us with little food.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest in the morning when I wake up feeling healthy and blessed. It is also a time when I plan for the activities of the day.
What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
When I receive my transfers, I am planning on contributing 1,000 shillings in a merry go round we have formed with ten members. The money I will receive in the merry go round will enable me to buy a cow.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
I am proudest of my farming. This is because when I plant traditional vegetables and cabbages, I will be able to sell them after three months and get income which will enable me to meet my needs.
