How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different now in that, I'm no longer stressed on how to get money that can support my family. After getting this money, I managed to purchase a motorcycle that generates daily income which supports my household in terms of buying food, soap, sugar and clothes. These transfers have also enabled me acquire a plot of land that I never owned in the past. Prior to receiving this money, I used to ride a bicycle for long distances which was tiring but since I now have a motorcycle I no long ride a bicycle for long distances.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GD has helped me own what I never owned previously. I now own for example a plot of land, I managed to acquire groundnut seeds and a motorcycle. I use my motorbike for boda boda business that generates daily income which supports my household. GD did well to send money directly to my account instead of using other channels which could have not given me my whole money. In my understanding, GD did everything well because in my community there were no iron roofed houses but after sending transfers people have built permanent houses using these transfers.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
When I received my second transfer, I decided to buy a plot of of land. The reason I bought this plot so that I can develop it in future by building rental houses on it. I spent my whole transfer on purchasing this plot.
