How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My only child who was my only hope passed on and this affected me so much because I depended on him for everything. I had to struggle on my own despite having arthritis. It is never easy but I have to push myself to ensure I eat and meet my other basic needs. Ever since Give Directly came into my life, I have done a few things that could not have been done especially after the death of my child. Currently, my life is different in that I have cemented the floor of my house this has saved me from the hustle of looking for mud and repairing the walls more often. This has also prevented me from contracting respiratory diseases that are caused by being exposed to dust.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal in the next four months is to save money. I plan to buy farm inputs such as manure, seedlings and hire labours in order to increase the acreage of land that will be ploughed. This means my farm produce will also increase if I take good care of the plants and use enough manure. If all goes well, I will keep a few sacks for my family and sell the rest in order to earn more income
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I finally bought sofa set seats. This has been my dream for a long time. I used to feel embarrassed whenever visitors came to my home because the seats that I had were not presentable. I now have a peace of mind and I do not panic especially when I have visitors or family gatherings. Before, I would borrow seats from my neighbours or hire plastic chairs which were extremely costly considering my meagre income. I am glad I will now have my own seats and avoid being bad-mouthed by my neighbours. I won't panic whenever I am chosen to be the host.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I expect my life to change. It will be the harvesting season and I hope to get a good harvest this time, considering the farm inputs that I used and the large area of land I cultivated. I will store enough food that will last us up to the next harvesting season. I will sell the remaining in order to earn more income that will help me cater to my other goals.
