How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
In the past, I was sleeping under a leaking grass thatched house. However, I completed and moved into a permanent house. In addition to this, I was able to acquire an ox which has made farming much easier.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well to send money directly to the poor. This shows that they are trustworthy and committed towards improving people's welfare. There is nothing that GiveDirectly does not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the second cash transfer to purchase construction materials such as doors, windows and cement.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in daily life is that I have acquired a bull, plastered my house. This was the most important thing to me and I am happy.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
That moment I received my money, happiness was all that engulfed me. I didn't have the means to acquire what I wanted but this transfer made it possible.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
My first transfer was spent to buy a bull, then cement and sand which used to plaster the house, as well as paying its labour. Some was also spent to weed groundnuts garden.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I will spend the transfers to complete my ron-roofed house. I started building the iron- roofed up to roofing level but ever since failed to finish due to lack of money. My household depends on subsistence farming which not so profitable when it comes to sales . I get little interest and savings from farming business to enable me complete a house.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest moment is afternoon especially after garden work. I feel comfortable having achieved to complete farming where my family earns a living.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face is poverty. My household sold land for Educating children. This has affected earnings from farming. My family members eat insufficient food that has resulted to malnutrition.
