Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment i received the transfer i was super excited and to say the less I'm still excited, thank you so much Givedirectly for getting us enrolled in this kind of a programme and indeed its one of the kind.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
So far the biggest difference is going to be my dreams coming into reality, especially with the house, this is something i have been wanting but poverty was the main issue,i will never forget this organisation and i will alway be grateful for doing us such a huge favour, please continue with the good work.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I have recently received my first transfer and I'm so grateful, since in my life i have been waiting for an opportunity like this to come through so that i should be able to do things that i never get to achieve because of financies. First thing I'm building a house because it is my priority to actually have a shelter it makes us to feel safe and secured, the actual project hasn't started yet but i have bought 24 ironsheet and bricks,i also bought a matress plus blankets. With the remaining part of the money i have bought 3 bags of maize for food and clothes for myself and children.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
The money will meant having a good house. I got married in 2004 and together we have two children. Since then up to now, I have making bricks that mostly sale. On average I make K50000 (approx $30) minimum and K80000 ($68) on a sale. This money is then used to buy food stuff, school fees for my siblings and clothes. Then I end up save nothing that will allow me to build a house. Sometimes the money will end by paying people or paying back debts. I am so happy that o have been enrolled into the program. With the help, I plan to build a good house. I want to have a two bedrooms house with a kitchen so that my wife shld be able to separate kitchen utensils with beddings. Then I and my wife, have agreed to use part of the money to buy land for farming. We have planned to buy it along river banks so that we should be able to be farming for the entire year.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am always happy during evenings cause it's the time of always relax and chat with my friends and family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The hardship that I have faced is the death of both my parents who died whilst I was little. This made me not to go to school as much as I wanted. Since then I have been raised by different relatives who did not want to take the responsibility of paying school fees. So o end up working in a farm with a very little pay check. Whilst I was working in the farm, things were hard, but not very because I could manage to buy food and clothes. But really poverty came after the death of the farm owner.
