What does receiving this money mean to you?
In my community, there is no shop here and getting to Monrovia to buy provisions and other things is a challenge for me. I don't know the amount that I will be receiving but when it is enough, I will start a business. If it is not enough, I will burn charcoal and sell. The money that I will receive from the sale will be added in what I will get from GiveDirectly to start a business. I am of the belief that when I open a shop here, my life will be improved because everyone will be buying from me. This will also make my financial situation to improve and I can use the profit to do other things
What is the happiest part of your day?
Nothing has really made me happy recently except when an NGO came to our town and took down our names for an assistance. For the fact that I just heard about receiving financial assistance, I was happy. Though, from that time til now, we have not heard anything from them but at that time, I felt very happy
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
When I was in school, my eyes used to hurt and I have a drop from school. Because of that situation, I started to born children. My wife helps me to do many things like cutting contracts and raise money for the home because sometimes, I will be at home and go nowhere because of my eye problems. As a result, getting food for my children and I is a problem for me. Sometimes when my eyes are not hurting, I can find hustle and find food for my family but when it starts to hurt, my wife does menial jobs to get money and feed us.
