Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was on my way for prayer in the next town when I received my cash transfer. I had my little niece with me who helped read my message and confirmed my money being on the phone. I raised my hands to the sky and said " thank God for Givedirectly". I was very very happy. During my prayer time at the mosque in Big Geveh, I bless Givedirectly people for thinking about me.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I was making business before the program but it was just little. I was straining myself to feed and pay my children's tuition from that small business and it really used to worry me. But my heart is satisfied now since Givedirectly started giving us money. There's joy on my face everyday. I am no longer as worried as before. I am happy.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I paid two of my children's tuition. I used part of my transfer to buy additional goods for my business: ( 3 bags of rice, 1 bag of onion, 2 cartons of toothpaste, 2 packs of cubes, 2 buckets of pepper, etc). I also about one bag of rice and other food items for my family's upkeep.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Owning a decent and spacious house is what receiving this cash transfer means to me. I live in a one bedroom thatch house which is not spacious enough to accommodate my family and I. For the past three years we have been sharing this single room which does not permit me to have privacy. I feel very embarrassed sharing a single room with my children. If I receive this cash transfer, I will definitely use it to build a decent and spacious house that will be able to accommodate my family and other visitors.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Receiving assistance for my children's school is what brought me joy and happiness in the last six months. Since I lost my spouse four years ago, I have been having a lot of financial constraints because I do not have a reliable source of income. I am not able to meet up with the obligation of my children's school which caused them to drop out of school for a whole semester. Last week, one of my relatives offered to take care of their semester's tuition. This made me very happy because it was like a heavy load had been lifted from my head.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The greatest challenge that I am currently facing is unreliable source of income. I lost my spouse about four years ago who was the sole breadwinner of the family. I do not presently have any means of earning an income which makes it difficult for me to meet my family's basic needs. For the past three years, I have been really struggling to feed my children and also pay their tuition. I always feel very sad every time they have to drop out of school because of financial constraints.
