Immediately I started receiving the funds from GiveDirectly, I decide to enroll in a mechanic college to gain experience and skills so that I would start earning income. I am glad that I am now perfecting my skills and I have even started earning some money by repairing cars and motorcycles from clients. Once I am done with the training, I would like to start my work place area where I will be self-employed. When I received my fifth transfer, I spent half of transfer of KSH 1500 to pay for my training fees. I then spent the remaining amount to buy food. To ensure that I fully focus on my trainings, I need to eat well and thus I bought the food to help me get the energy required daily in my trainings.

When I received my first transfer I was very happy because I still live close to my parents and in that particular time lack of food was our major challenge so I spent all the kshs 1200 to buy food which lasted for a week. I have always had an interest in the Mechanical field and so I approached one of my relative who allowed to train me at a fee of kshs 2000 and eventually when am done he promised to employ me.So I started on the Mechanical training and used the remaining kshs 700 to buy food and 1 chicken kshs 300.The third transfer was a blessing to me because it came just in time for the festive season and I was able to buy my child and my siblings some clothes worth kshs 2000 and bought food over Christmas with the remaining kshs 1000.

My life is currently changing. I am enrolled and learning this course. At the end of it all, I will acquire skills that will help me secure a job or be self-employed. I will finally be able to take care of my family. Currently, I cannot do that, but I am very hopeful I will manage that one day.

In my opinion, everything that gives directly currently doing is well. I thank them for being able to help the needy in society. I also want to say that we can receive the aid in cash form and not food. This has helped us plan strategically on what we need the most.

I spent a total of KSH 2000 of the transfer on paying fees for the mechanical course that I am currently undertaking. I decided to learn this course to acquire the skills and later use them to work and feed my family. I now don’t have a job, and due to the hardships, I am currently, this was a priority for me upon receiving the transfer. In addition, I spent the remaining KSH 1000 buying food during lunch hours during my training sessions.

I was at my work place in the morning around 9 am in the morning. I heard a notification alert in my phone and when i looked at it was a confirmation message from Give Directly that i haf received the cash. I was very happy and even motivated to continue my persuing my goal of starting my business.

The bigfest difference is that i will be able to srart my small business and earn some extra income and help out my family. This business is going to complement my motorcycle business. With this business i will be able to uplift my self from the jaws of poverty.

I spent 1000 shillings in buying poles. The poles will be used in the construction of a shop where i want to set up my business. I want to set a mini shop where i can be able to sell small products and earn a living. I saved the remaining 200 shillings for emergency use.
