How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I could not plough my fields in time due to lack of oxens. But come next year immediately rains return I will start off ploughing my fields meaning my crops will yield a good harvest due to enough rain. I feel so proud when I look at my livestock because I never imagined owning them.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my view, Give Directly has enabled me buy my own livestock, clothes, shoes which I did not have before. In general Give Directly has helped very many people come out of poverty. Most people have constructed iron sheet houses, bought motorcycles, pay school fees for their children and acquire pieces of land.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
First and foremost, I have not been having oxens for ploughing and as soon as I received these transfers I decided to buy oxens. In my last transfer I bought a bull of ugx 1500000. When the rains return next year, I will be able to plough my land using my own oxens. I also spent ugx 133000 to purchase household items like mattress, bed sheets and children's clothes.
