Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was home with my husband when I received the SMS. I checked and noticed that I had received my first transfer. I was very happy and I immediately called a MoMo agent that lives near our house. The thing I had in mind at that time was to buy the cultivating field I used to rent and work for a living. I bought that land and some other home appliances that I needed, I thank GD everyday because without this transfer I would not have been able to get all that.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Before receiving this transfer, we used to rent some land and the crops that we cultivated were the same crops that we ate and sold to pay for the land rent. When we received our first GD transfer, we fully paid that cultivating field and we are looking for better outcomes in the days ahead all thanks to GD.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used most of my transfer to buy the land that I used to cultivate for a living. I really wanted to buy that land but did not know I will one day be able to buy it.

What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
We are planning to use the first installment on our house renovation and we will be paying for school fees for our children , and we will buy a pig for 70$ and a goat for 50$ The second installment we will use it to buy a new land which will cost us 200$ and we will buy materials we need for home and clothes for us and the balance I will invest in my business and buy new varieties of products. Receiving this means having a good life because we will be able to get what we lack and we will be able change our lives for the better.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Having a healthy life and having peace in our house is what keep us moving forward. We had a cow which has produced a cattle recently and my niece who was pregnant come for a vist in the past days and when she reached home she was able to deliver her baby safely and this was happy news for us because we started the year welcoming the new baby born and I am now planning to go visit her. My last born Dancile have also well performed in class as she is starting in primary and we didn’t expect her performance to be as good as it was and this was amazing achievement for our family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I am currently holding a small shop but i face challenges of not having enough investment to expand and keep it running and falling into debt, as I previously wanted to ask for a loan in the bank but i was not able to get it because the business is not stable as I lack enough product to keep its stability. And another challenge we face is the change of seasons which affects our crops production and not being able to get enough inorganic fertiliser for our land because we are not able to pay for it on time.
