How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The biggest difference in my daily is that since I managed to clear the loan that my spouse was paying we are now able to get enough money for our daily up keep. My family's life has really changed because they are feeding well and leaving a better life than before. I also managed to plant my farm very comfortably by hiring tractor to cultivate my family easily without too much strangle as before where I have to use my own hand.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion give directly kept their promise as they said they did not take too long before implementing what they said. They also did a very good think by using empesa as means of send the transfer because it is so much convenient.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent most of the transfer to buy hire tractor to cultivating my farm. I thought of hiring a tractor because I have been having difficult time when it comes to plough season because I had to use my own hand to till my land. This was very hectic and tiresome since the land is too big that I could not managed to till the whole of it. I was tilling very small peace of land and this was leading to low yield that could not sustain my family i am very happy because I managed to hire tractor and planted a very big land where i will get enough produce that will sustain me with my family. I also spent the transfer to loan for the motorcycle that my spouse from micro-finance. My spouse was paying the loan every month and this was draining him so much that so much that some time he could even come home with nothing. Since I cleared the loan life has really changed because money he gets from the motorcycle is ment for our family up keep he does not take to the micro-finance. The remaining balance I spent to buy food stuffs since I did not have any money to buy food.

I felt so happy the moment I received the money from GiveDirectly because this was the first time I was handling such a huge amount of money in my life.

I spent part of the money I received from GiveDirectly on a motorcycle so that we can have a better unlike previously when my spouse used to operate some's motorcycle. Part of the money I spent on building materials that we used to construct a bigger house, unlike the previous house which was old and small. mall.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I can finally build a better house for my family. The house we live in was built by workmen who did a poor job and it is too small to comfortably house my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when my spouse comes home. He always struggles to buy food and bring it home and the bright looks on my children's faces when he arrives often makes me feel very happy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I currently face is lack of a sustainable source of income for my family. My spouse is a motorcycle taxi driver but nowadays these taxis are very many so he is often left with very little money at the end of the day after paying the owner for hiring it. We thus cannot often afford to comfortably pay school fees and feed our children.
