How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I am so grateful for the transfer. My level of poverty has been decreased because of the transfer. I also have enough food such that I don't lack anything when it comes to eating. I am also able to eat 3 times a day. My children also did have batter clothes to put on when going to school. I bought them new clothes, learning materials such as school bags, notebooks and pens. My children nowadays go to school with a happy face.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
I would like to thank GD for this program. For many years, I have failed to build a house. This is because the money I have been sourcing is not enough to build a house. GD gives a large sum of money that someone can use to do tangible things. GD also covers a large number of recipients than other NGOs. I also like the criteria which GD uses to enroll recipients otherwise, using Chiefs or VDCs could lead into conflicts.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I am so grateful for the program. My focus was on building a house. I bought 16 iron sheets, glasses and windows. I also used the money to pay builders. I also bought 5 bags of maize. I am now food secured. I also bought some clothes for my children.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means alot to me as well as my entire family. It is a relief to me because i will be able now to have a proper house as you can see that my house is in a bad state. I will also be able to pay for my children's education who are in primary school. They lack many necessities at school as a result they usually abscond classes but with this cash grant, I will make sure they do not fail to go school due to lack of learning materials.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Most days I do not afford to generate enough happiness because I am usually thinking of my poverty and I spend most of my days worried of the same. I cannot therefore say I have a specific time of the day that Iam happiest.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship i have faced in my life over the past the years is actually lack of money to buy basic necessities of life such as food and shelter. I do not have a reliable source of income to sustain our survival as a family.
