Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The first cash transfer has transformed our lives. We have been able to complete our house. Having spent about two years without the hopes of completing our house. This was an opportunity for us to roof and plaster it. We are currently living in an iron roofed house courtesy of the GiveDirectly cash transfers.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I recall hearing the phone buzzing that morning. When I read the message, I could not hold my happiness. I woke up my husband and showed him the mobile money message. we were full of joy on that day.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
The first cash transfer was spent to purchase timber worth UGX300000 and iron sheets worth UGX220000 and cement worth UGX625000. I paid the builders UGX450000. I paid school fees worth UGX45000. I bought clothes worth UGX100000. The balance was spent on buying food.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Recieving this money means I will be able to complete my house which is at the roofing stage now.My house has stayed for long since (2017) without being completed because the little money is used up for other expenses like paying school fees and welfare of the family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when my family has had all the meals for a day and they are okay health wise.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship is not having a stable source of income though my husband is a taxi driver, his income can not sustain the family properly. This has made us to fore go other things in our family because we cant fulfil them currently.
