How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
In the last four months, I am happy because my children were not sent home for school fees as usual. This is because of GD transfers. In my own capacity and my small income from casual work, I would have not been able to raise the money needed to pay their fees arrears in time. This is because I only depended on income from casual work which is not only very little but also inconsistent.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal in the next four months is to buy building materials such as iron sheets, timber, and nails which I can use to build a new house in my own compound. I would also want to have my own home because right now I stay in my parents' compound.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my life since I received these transfers is that I have my own cows. I have been dreaming of having my own cows for long but due to low income from casual work and many other family needs, I was not able to buy some. I had resolved to take care of other people's cows as a way of fulfilling my dream. I thank GD because of the transfers, I was able to buy my own cows. I no longer use my friend's cows to quench my thirst of having a cow.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I would want to buy bulls so that I could be hiring them out to my neighbors at a cost to help raise an income to help my family. I would want to have as many cows as I can so that I can re-write the opinion my fellow villagers had on me.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I did not have any cow in my life and this has been one of my greatest desires to have one. I was not able to achieve this because I did not have any money to buy any but Give Directly fulfilled it for me. I am so happy
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I would want to start up a business to help boost my income and support my family well.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I have cows just like my neighbours and I also bought some clothes since I did not have good ones.
Do you have any new goals that you didn't have before receiving the transfer?
Apart from my set goals, I do not have any new goal as per now.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face in my life is that my income is very low and I have a large family depending on me for food and other basic needs like education which I have to cater for.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning when I go to plough my maize on the farm. This makes me happy as it is my source of livelihood.
What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I am planning to spend my transfer on renting a piece of land so that I can plant some food crops, part of it will pay school fees for my children and also start a small business of selling cattle at Luanda market.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
The achievement I am proudest of is that I have been able to build my own house using the little cash I saved while doing casual labour. I am now proud that my family have a better shelter than the old one.
