How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Considering how well my posho mill is performing, I am currently planning to build my home. I think I will be getting some minor gains. I will be able to save money for my home's construction.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
I am really pleased that GiveDirectly has exposed numerous members of the neighborhood. Several people have constructed homes, sent their children or sponsored themselves to school, founded businesses or even expanded existing ones, purchased cows, and generally improved the town. Not a single complaint
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used my second transfer to pay $300 for a milk cow. Prior to those transactions, I did not have any cows. Now that it is ready to calf, I am excited to have wonderful milk to sell to increase my revenue and provide my family with what they previously lacked for consumption. By purchasing an additional $1500 worth of cereal supplies, I also increased my posho mill business. I sell maize, and I spent $100 on groceries and other household items. Three daughters and a son make up my four children. It had been difficult for me to collect their school fees in the past, so I spent some money on them. My husband drives for supplies.

I felt so happy the moment I received money from GiveDirectly. I saw the message at around 7:00 pm . I shared the information with my husband who was equally very happy. We were so happy that we were finally going to be able to accomplish the things that we had planned to do
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life since I started receiving payments from GiveDirectly is the business improvements that I have made. From the shop keeping business that I run to the small business house that I am just about to construct with this money. I am so grateful to GiveDirectly for enabling me accomplish the things that I accomplished with the money.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
We used KES 30000 to buy building materials as I get ready to start building and used another KES 15000 to improve my shop keeping business and the remaining amount was used to buy food and other basic household needs. I made a decision to improve my business since this will go a long way in boosting the living standards of my family. The house that I am building is meant for business that I run at a town centre next to my home.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means improved business. We have a small business of a kiosk selling household items and a Posho mill and it has been our ambition to expand it to maximize profit-making. So when we receive this transfer we will purchase maize and stock them in our posho mill. We have been milling maize and sometimes we get customers who want to purchase maize for milling yet we do not have so we intend to use KES of our transfer as our starting capital. This business will boost our source of income and we are glad we will be able to meet our family's needs.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Despite the challenge of price inflation in household items, our Kiosk business has helped us to get school fees for our children. This has brought joy and happiness into our lives and we are glad that our children are getting humble time to study.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest challenge is financial constraints. It has been our ambition to expand our kiosk and Posho mill business, however, this has been futile due to lack of money. This small business of ours is also experiencing challenges due to price inflation in households and sometimes customers purchase on credit. This has been demotivating since some customers never pay their debt.
