How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I am glad that my compound look so different in that I have new shelter and livestock. With GiveDirectly's transfers, I managed to build a new house, buy a water tank and buy some livestock. I couldn't managed to do all this before as I would struggle with buying foodstuffs for my family. Since then, I haven't been going to the river as I got water tank which stores enough water for use at home.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly did well by giving us monetary support. This enabled us to spend on what we didn't have. I didn't see anything that wasn't done well during enrollment.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
The second transfers which I received, I spent KES 36000 on buying two heifers for rearing. I opted to invest in livestock so that I would have some cows producing milk in the near future. I then spent a total of KES 13000 on buying a few clothes for each family member so that we would have some to change with that we had. The remaining amount of KES. 4000, I spent on buying foodstuffs for my family.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was overwhelmed with joy when I received the transfers at around six in the morning. I went ahead ahead and bought bbuilding materials and a water tank as I had intended.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is putting up of a spacious house and a water tank which has reduced water purchasing costs. I have also been able to buy adequate food for my family with the transfers. This is contrary to before when we used to rely on my husband who does casual labor in order to feed the family.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent 250USD of my transfer on a building a spacious two roomed Iron roofed house because the one I had was just a tiny bedroom. 200 USD was spent on a 3000 litre water tank because we depend on water dams which are very shallow, seasonal and with dirty water. This has helped reduced drinking water costs. 30 USD was spent on food and household items.
