What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
Working from home for the past 1year has enabled me see an opportunity of opening up the tailoring business here. With time I foresee the number of customers rising , therefore I would like to put up a kiosk worth approximately KES 18000 and get my husband a startup business of trading goats through acquiring 6 goats each at a cost of KES 5000.I am extremely excited that these transfers will enable my family have a better life in the future.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Although I have lost many customers in the tailoring business due to business relocation to the village from town.I am currently more happier and at peace because I no longer have to face the harassment and embarrassment from the landlord due to delayed rental payment. There were times last year when I had to neglect my children's welfare through working overtime in order to earn money just enough to pay for the shop rent.Currently ,I am happy because I can work from home and earn just enough to keep the family moving as well as stay close to my children.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Financial constraint is the greatest challenge am so facing .I am a mother of 4 in a polygamous set up, this has made my life difficult because my husband has a divided mind in terms of household responsibilities .I have to go an extra mile to ensure that my children meet the required basic needs. My tailoring business failed in October 2023 due to my inability to pay the house rent in Kampi samaki center. The household needs had exceeded the daily incomes from my business and hence I had to relocate the business home , here the number of customers have reduced leading to a lower income than before.Providing for my family has therefore become a challenge because I do not have the capacity to engage in other income generating activities. My children are too young and one of them is disabled therefore in need of much attention from my side. This issue of finances has really caused a lot of stress making me have sleepless nights for the last one year . Currently I am hoping that things will change for the better .
