How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different with this transfer because there are numerous things i could not afford if it were not for this transfer. This year iam sure that i will not face hunger as i have enough food due to the fertilizer I bought and applied in my maize field. I also bought some food with this transfer hence my harvest will be pushed further to and beyond the lean season. This is also all because of the 'surprise' cash transfer from GiveDirectly. Iam calling it a surprise because up until now I feel like I did not deserve it. Iam really grateful to GD and may this project other vulnerable communities who are equally needy and in dire poverty.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly is the best NGO that has ever worked in our community. It does well by among other things targeting and enrolling every household in a given village. GiveDirectly also implements its projects in hard to reach villages. There is nothing therefore that i can point at as a weakness that needs improvement in it's service delivery to various communities.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
When i received my final transfer i managed to buy a single mattress which my 2 children share. Bearing in mind that at that time I had not yet harvested my maize I also bought 5 bags of maize for consumption. Part of the transfer was spent on iron sheets as i had to top on those i purchased using the first transfer. Very soon and I mean very soon I will be renovating my house.
