How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is currently different from how it was before because I currently own some assets that I did not have before. Due to this, I no longer buy milk daily because I was able to use the transfer to acquire a dairy cow. Also, I now own some sheep and these are assets to me that I can rely on in case of any financial challenges.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well in all aspects of their operations. With transfers, most people were able to build decent houses and acquire livestock. I do not see anything that they did not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
When I received my second transfer, I spent a good amount to acquire some assets for my family. I bought two calves and sheep so that I can always lean on them in case of financial challenges. Also, I spent some amount to repay a loan that I had taken from different people in our village. On the remaining amount, I bought some basic needs for my family. I bought four sacks of maize and some decent clothes for everyone.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference is that now I no longer bought milk for use as I now get milk from my own cow. Before I would go for casual jobs to get money for buying milk and other food but now I have taken a breath as I have some food which I bought and can get milk from my cow.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I got these money I was so happy as I had never gotten such amount before.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
My first transfer I basically spent on livestock. I bought a cow, sheep and some chicken. I also spent part of it to buy food and clothes for my children.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I depend on subsistence farming as a source of income and this is very unpredictable because sometimes the production is very low making it hard to provide basic needs for my family. Sometimes we go without food the whole day making me feel like I failed as a father. That's my biggest hardship.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when return home after successful hustle. Thats when we can enjoy evening meals with my family.
What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money will totally improve my living standard. I will use it to start a poultry and small shop business.
