How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is so different in such a way that I no longer struggle in seeking fir sheer life before. I have been owning a small house which was almost falling and the roof was so leaky especially when it rains there no peace at all. I had no choice other than to live in such emvinrinmnet because I could not afford to purchase the required materials for the renovation of the house leave alone constracting a new one. I am indeed a happy parent becasue I finally manage to construct a brand new one that can accommodate all my family members. Also, I have several goats that are now serving as the living assets that I can solely depend on in case of any emergency.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well in various ways and I am so grafeful for that. First, the cash transfer was sent directly to my mobile phone. I did not have to travel to any office to receive the money and this really made my work easier. Also, it reduced the cases of bribery and theft. For these reasons, I do not see any part GiveDirectly failed us,
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent part of my second transfer on buying a few building materials such as iron sheets, building poles, threads and timber. This was for the construction of a new house becasue the initial one was a traditional grass-thatched house with a leaky roof. Most of my family members used to shelter at their relative's houses which were so frustrating. Also, I bought three goats as my investments that I could lean on in case of financial constraints. With the remaing amount, I bought enough foodstuffs for my family.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I heard my phone ringing, notifying me of an incoming message in the afternoon. I called for my helper who confirmed to me that I had received my first transfer from GiveDirectly. I felt happy to receive the financial help.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am now in the process of building a new decent and iron roofed house. My previous house was in a bad state and nearly collapsing. It was grass thatched and leaking during rains. My desire was to build a decent house but I failed due to lack of financial resources. When I received the transfer, I bought some building materials which include iron sheets, building poles and paid for the labour cost to facilitate this. I am happy because soon I will be sheltering in my new house.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I committed a larger portion of my first transfer on building a new decent and iron roofed house. My old house collapsed many years and I could not build a new one due to my lowly financial status. When I received the transfer, I bought building materials which include iron sheets and building poles to facilitate construction of the new house. I was also lacking food in my household thus I did enough shopping on enough foodstuffs that will take us a while. Lastly, I spent the remaining amount on paying school fees for my children.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
A decent shelter for my family is what receiving this money means to me. Currently, I am living in a small grass-roofed house which I use as a kitchen and gallery at the sometimes. I am planning to spend $300 to build a two-roomed irony roofed house for my family a transformation I have been longing for. The remaining amount will assist me in starting goats rearing which will be my investment to supplement my earnings from my charcoal vending job.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Evening is the happiest part of my day. Being a charcoal vendor I spend the better part of the day preparing and packaging charcoal for sale. I return home in the evening exhausted to relax with my family members. I am always happy when I accomplish my day's work.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Lack of a reliable source of income is the biggest hardship in my life. I depend on charcoal vending a job that earns me a dollar per day. I spend my income to feed the family leaving me with nothing for the other basic needs like good shelter. I am always ashamed due to the bad condition of my house.
