How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different from how it was four months in that I have been using my transfer to hire people to help me with the farm work, to buy fertilizer and hybrid seeds. I was surprised got eight sacks of maize which had never happened before, I used to get a maximum of two sacks of maize. I feel happier and encouraged to work even harder next season. I have enough food to take me to the next season and I have a surplus for sale to get money to support my family. We are eating well and enough unlike before when food was scarce. I have noticed the importance of proper farming. All this is because of GiveDirectly and I say a big thank.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I am planning to buy plastering materials that I am planning to use to plaster my house simply because I want it to look decent and be strong. In our place, during rainy seasons it is always treaky because it is swapy and at times during heavy rains, the floor starts to leak, these are one of the reasons that motivate me to plaster my house because it affects health-wise, and to make it worse I have young children. I thank Give Directly I now have an additional source of income apart from my transfers. I can now sell the farm produce to get more money to invest in other projects like plastering my house.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer is that I have enough food to provide for my family.t I have been using my transfer to hire people to help me with the farm work, to buy fertilizer and hybrid seeds. I was surprised during the recent harvesting season, I got eight sacks of maize which had never happened before, I used to get a maximum of two sacks of maize. I feel happier and encouraged to work even harder next season. I have enough food to take me to the next season and I have a surplus for sale to get money to support my family. We are eating well and enough unlike before when food was scarce. All this is because of GiveDirectly and I say a big thank you may God bless the hands that help us out of poverty.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
The major thing ahead of me is to plaster my house. I am working extra hard to look for funds to enable me to do this. I have started savings towards achieving the project and hopefully soon I would have achieved it. I still thank Give DIrectly because I know through the transfers I would be in a position to plaster my house soonest. I would wish to this before heavy rains begin because we leave in swapy areas and you can plaster during heavy rains because it will automatically destroy.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
I am a full-blown farmer now. I don't rely on borrowing from friends to put a single meal on the table for my family anymore. With the transfers, I have ventured into both livestock and poultry farming to help in raising income to change the lifestyle of my family. These are the main source of income and I am grateful to Give Directly for making me so independent.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal is to save and buy building materials like cement and sand to plaster my house which is just mud smeared.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I ventured into livestock farming which helps in generating income for the family. I have always wanted to rear livestock but I could not as it was just a big dream that seemed impossible to fulfil. I am now a proud livestock and poultry farmer, Thanks to GiveDirectly for making my dream come true. This I can confidently say is the biggest difference in my daily life.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I shall have harvested my farm produce which I can sell to get the income and also consume to nourish our health. We shall be having plenty of food for the better part of the year. In the next six months, I would have saved and bought the building materials and plastered my house.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Currently, my life is different in that I have managed to expand the poultry rearing project that I had started with GiveDirectly's transfers and with the income I get from it, I have been able to buy a goat. once the population of this goat increases significantly, I will earn an extra income through the selling some of them to cater to my family's needs such as paying school fees for my children. For instance, I feel independent and self-empowered since I no longer have debts of my neighbours and friends like before.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal in the next four months jointly with my spouse and use the saving to cement my house. With the cemented house, I will no longer face the challenge of walking around the village in such of cow dung which has been time consuming to smear my current mud house.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Previously, I use to have debts in the nearby shop and at times when I didn't settle it on time, the shop keeper could quarrel and give me threats. The biggest difference in my daily life for the last four months is that I have been able to buy a goat. Therefore once the population of this goat increases significantly, I will earn an extra income through selling some of them to cater to my family's needs such as paying school fees for my children. For instance, I feel independent and self-empowered since I no longer have debts of my neighbours and the shop keepers as well like before.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect in the next six months to have saved enough money that will necessitate the construction of my cemented house hence I will no longer face the challenge of walking around the village in such of cow dung which has been time-consuming to smear my current mud house. The cemented house will be stronger and sustainably as well.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
The other difference in my life caused by this money is that I no longer borrow as I used. Since I used to depend on casual work, I used to struggle to make ends meet. Life was very difficult since I used to earn very little yet I had a lot to do with the money. I used to have lots of debts because I had to ensure my family is provided for even if I did not have money. In most cases I had to borrow which caused me a lot of debts. I have since paid all of them and I thank God I have a new name.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
In the next four months, my new goal is to always pay school fees in time for my children. The situation in which I have been in because of my low income from casual work has not been enough to help me sustain my family needs and meet my demands. I believe with the business, I can achieve all my dreams.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference since I started receiving this transfer from Give Directly is that I now have my longtime dream of poultry business. This has been my dream for two years now but since I did not have enough money to start it, I have never achieved it. I have always desired to this business because it has been my passion and I know out of this, I will have a stable source of income to help me sustain my daily needs. I nolonger want to struggle through casual work as I used to. I want to work smart and have the best than work hard and have the least.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I believe with the business, I will be financially stable. the next goal is to plaster my house. I have always desired to own a permamnent house but since I am not able to afford it, I plan to plaster the one I have so that it may look strong, neat and presentable.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face in life is the challenge of raising school fee for my children especially the two who are in secondary. Since I do not have a stable source of income, it becomes so hard to balance the little I earn on buying daily food and saving to clear school fee arrears.

The happiest part of my day is in the evening at five o'clock when I see my children come from school safely happy and in good health. It is also the time I get to rest after my long day work.
What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I am planning to use my transfers to buy farm inputs such as fertilizers, seed and to hire farm laborers. This will help me improve my food production for the next season so that I be sure of food security in my house.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
My proudest achievement is the poultry farming project that I started five years ago with only two chicken. I now have a big poultry house with 25 chicken and 11 chicks. I have sold some chicken and bought a goat.
