How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Had it for the money that I received from the organization, I wouldn't have bought a plot. I have always wished to have a piece of land to help me settle in it, and get out of my maternal land. I'm not married, so living in my fathers land has always not been my best wish, therefore the reason I have been struggling to. I'm currently living with my unmarried sister, but I have been feeling uncomfortable. So once I finish building my new home, I will give her space to atleast improve herself as she plans to move as well. I know that when this plans are successful,I will be happy and comfortable as well.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
The organization actually does all the good things by providing financial assistance to the less to do families in our region.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the entire second transfers in procurement of materials which I intended to use in building a house in my newly bought pieace of land which I bought with the first transfer.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
I now live happily with my brothers and they no longer ask me when I will leave my maternal home since I assured them that I will use my second transfers to build a house in my new farm.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was 6 am in the morning when I woke up and saw two messages confirming that I had received money from GiveDirectly. I had to re-confirm it by checking my M-Pesa balance. This made me so happy and I had to wake up my children and share with them the goodnews.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent entire of my transfer to buy a plot of land. I am a single mother and I have been living in a house my father had built for me. Lately, my brothers have been asking me when I will leave home and live a life of my own for they have been afraid that I am after their inheritance.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money mean I will be able to own a land since I am single and living in my father's land. I have been desiring to own it and due to lack of money, I have been unable to.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Seeing a new day is one thing that rejuvinates me, feel happy and give thanks to God and thus the happiest part of my day is in the morning.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in life is inability to have my own children. In the year 2003, I got married and since I was unable to bear children I was disowned by my husband in the year 2010 and I had to settle in my father's land.
