What does receiving this money mean to you?
This money will help me buy what I am lacking in my life. For example I will buy iron sheets, timber, nails and other building materials to build a new house. I live in a semi-detached house which is very small and does not have a bedroom. As of now, I sleep on a mat which is very uncomfortable so I will buy a matress. On top of that, I will buy maize. I have a farm but I don't harvest enough maize to last for a very long time. Right now, I am only remaining with one bag of maize which I will eat up to January.
What is the happiest part of your day?
In the last six months the only thing that has brought me joy is the coming of Givedirectly in the village. Givedirectly has given me hope that things will change for the better in my house.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The main challenge I face is lack of enough money to buy my basic such as soap and food. Sometimes, my husband who went to South Africa for greener pastures sends me money. However, most of the times I have to go to the mountains in search of firewood which I sell to make money.
