How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I now have money unlike before, I can now even contribute in fundraisers in church or even pay tithe. I am a pastor and I can now even offer a little help to people who might have any small financial needs. I will also marry my fiance, now that I see myself at a point where I can start getting some income soon, from my phone charging business that I started with a solar panel that I bought with my first transfers. I am grateful to Give Directly.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Give Directly gave us clear guidelines on how to use the transfers to change our lives. Because of this, we all received the transfers with a mind-set to change our lives. Most of the people in this community have truly changed and improved their lives. People have invested in cattle, others in businesses and others have built houses. Give Directly did well with their teachings and meetings. I have seen nothing wrong that Give Directly has done.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my transfers to pay for my secondary school education. I dropped out of school about a year and a half ago when I was in form three. My parents could not afford to pay for my fees so I could complete my education. I have always wanted to complete high school. I am grateful to Give Directly because I can go back to school and complete my secondary education. This will help me achieve my dreams and get to where I want to be in life. I am currently a pastor and I minister to people, I understand that I need a High school certificate in my pastor hood. I also spent my transfers to acquire a birth certificate. I will need a birth certificate so I can register for my final exams in High school. This is why I invested my transfers to acquire a birth certificate. The rest of the transfers I invested in food and household items for my daily use.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
To me, receiving this transfer was like a spring of water that suddenly emerged in a desert! Initially I had no lighting in my household but now with the solar panel I bought, all is well as I can comfortably charge my phone and read without any challenges. This has also created an opportunity for me to earn some income by charging my neighbor's phones at small fee.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I am a pastor and when the message came I had gone to church for morning devotion. I heard a vibration from my phone notifying me of a message and on checking to confirm, it was from Give Directly informing me of receiving 55,000 KES. I felt happy for the money and spent part of my prayer session that morning thanking God and Give directly for such great blessings.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
Upon receiving my first transfer, I bought a solar panel, big enough for lighting my household and even enabling me to earn some cash by charging my fellow villager's phones,at a small fee. This is because in my village, there is no supply of electricity and many people have been for a long time travelling long distance just to charge their mobile phones. The lighting has been of great importance in my revision since I recently went back to high school after staying out for a long time and will be finalizing next year.I Am also happy that this will reduce the distance that my neighbors travel to charge their phones.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that my prayers have been answered. This is because since I heard about Givedirectly, I have been on my knees praying that this program come to reality. I will start livestock business that will provide continuous income and this will sustain my basic needs and worshipping God through giving tithes.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the morning because it is when I am expecting new things from God. It is the morning when some beleavers come for prayers at my residence. When I see God perform healing, I feel very happy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in my life is lack of reliable source of income. Being a pastor, many people have come to me for assistance during the drought season. Unfortunately, I could not be able to respond to their needs because of my situation.
