What did you spend your second transfer on?
I did spend a better part of my transfer on improving the state of my house and building a kitchen for myself. 34,000 KES was spent in the house renovation. I purchased 10 bags of cement, a lorry of sand, round poles, iron sheet and labor fees that totaled to the 34,000 KES. I also bought a mattress and a blanket that costed 5,500 KES. I had always desired to own a goat hence I bought two at 4,000 KES. The remaining amount I spent on household expenses like buying a sofa set at 7,300 KES, 2 bags of maize at 6,000 and other up keep expenses. This was a total transformation in my family.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, Give Directly is really improving the living standards of many people and creating an impact in the lives of many Kenyans who have so far been reached. I have no record of any wrong that the organisation has done but I all I see is goodness. Bravo Give Directly.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Currently my life is way above my expectation as previously. I own a kitchen, I have two goats and one is expectant, the walls of my house are plastered and the floor is cemented. This is something that I would never have achieved in a short period of time as I did hence can proudly say that my life has been elevated to another level.

What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer buying a sofa set seat which I didn't have.I paid school fees for my son who is in a vocational training institution carryout a tailoring course . I bought nails and 20 pieces of iron sheets which I am planning to use on expanding my house into a decent spacious house since the house I am staying in at the moment is small and not fitting my family members comfortably .I bought two bags of maize for my family's consumption and water container ( super drum).I have remained with 5000 KES.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my first transfer,I felt very happy since in my whole life I have never received a lump-sum amount of money and I am thankful to God and GiveDierctly for coming through my way.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My biggest hardship was when my husband died, i had a small shelter that was covered with plastic paper, it was leaking when it rained until i could get refuge in the neighbour's house with my little children. I suffered until my brother decided to build for me a shelter, even though it's small that could not accommodate the family. Now i thank God for Give Directly for it's charitable work to uplift people like me to a certain level, i now feel confident that i will be more steps a head economically.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest part of the day is morning, that's when my mind is still fresh and and strength is intact for the day's economic struggle. I am also happy because God has granted me a new day with its own blessings at hand.
What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money mean a lot to me. My husband died when i was newly married, since then, i have experienced a miserable life, i lack mattress, even a chair i don't have. I've been weeding for my neighbours in order to bring food on the table, but now i do believe that i will be free from the york of poverty.
