In the coming year, my main goal is to expand my business for increased growth and profit. This expansion will support me in covering school fees for my remaining eight children, who are currently in primary and secondary schools. Presently, I possess a total of twenty-one goats, sheep, and chickens, and I aim to double this number by the end of the year. I plan to achieve this goal by saving and utilizing the transfers I receive. Expanding my business not only secures my income even after the project concludes but also ensures a better future for my family. I am sincerely grateful to this organization for positively transforming my life.

Life in our village has not always been easy due to a prolonged drought that affected us for many years. Providing food for my family was a constant struggle, since my job as a livestock salesman couldn't fully support us. Despite these challenges, I'm happy to say that life has taken a positive turn. All my children are attending school, and I'm proud to share that two of them have graduated and now have successful careers as a doctor and a teacher. The transfers we've received have played a crucial role in this transformation, allowing us to prioritize education and cover school fees. With $34, I was able to clear my son's school fees debt, ensuring he could sit for his exams without any hindrance. Then, with the remaining $68, I invested in a goat, thereby expanding my livestock business. These transfers have truly been a blessing, significantly improving our lives. I am a livestock businessman, conducting my trade at the primary market in Mariakani, a practice I have diligently pursued for many years. My main goal is to be one of the known livestock keepers in the area. With my previous transfers, I have been buying livestock and as of now, I have 5 goats. My plan is still to buy more with the transfers that I will be receiving so that at the end of a certain period, I could trade some of them to get cows and with that, the project would be growing as per my wishes and thus achieving my goals.

For the longest time, I had wanted to be a livestock keeper, but due to financial constraints, I had never been lucky to be one. But upon GiveDirectly coming into my life, my ways were opened. The transfers that I have been receiving had been of great help in terms of fulfilling my wishes and now I have the project running. With the most recent transfers, I managed to add one goat worth $32 to the ones that I previously bought and now I have a total of 5 and the remaining $2.70 was spent on buying food. I currently can afford a smile because my wishes came true.

My objective is to invest in goats since they are the only assets that I can have. I am not employed, and these goats can help me overcome my financial troubles. I have nine children currently enrolled in high school and primary school, and they all depend on me for their fees. I do not have any other support besides the monthly transfers. I am currently keeping twelve goats, and I am planning to buy more goats in the coming year and beyond. They will serve as security for the future of my children's education.

I spent my most recent transfers on paying school fees for my children, buying two goats, and shopping for foodstuffs. I have two children in high school and seven in primary school, and raising their fees has been an uphill battle. I am grateful for the financial support because my children are comfortable in school, unlike before when they were missing classes. I also keep livestock, such as goats, which is the only investment I have. I thus added two goats, and my expectation is that I will be able to educate my nine children as they strive for better education. I lastly purchased adequate foodstuffs for my family and I'm happy that my children were enjoying taking three meals a day.

With my most recent transfer, I spent $10 on paying school fees for my five children. The rest, $20, I used on food. I prioritized those because I do not have a regular job but rather do livestock business which has not been doing well. My wife and I both struggle to provide for our kids. To share the limited food available, our family occasionally has to skip some meals, like breakfast. Consequently, my children's academic performance has been negatively affected by this situation since they miss classes more often. They find it hard to concentrate in class while hungry.

In my opinion this organisation is definitely doing a good job because the financial aid I receivd has really come through for me several time. I have nine children and all of them are in school. My job is to buy and sell livestock where make some money but my family is large and their wants and needs are many that is why I glad I receive a helping hand from the program through the transfers.

I have indeed received the funds from the organisation but I have not yet withdrawn the money from my mobile banking although I did have plans for it. When I withdraw the funds I would love to pay school fees for my son who is in high-school since I owe the school about KES 17,500 in tuition fee which I have not even started to pay. So I will wait until my son comes back from half term break then I will give him the KES 3,000 that I received to that I do not remain with such a huge debt to pay and also so that my son is not kicked out of school.

I received the message at night but never saw the text until the next day, when one of my daughters came to me in excitement, claiming to have received the funds. I was astonished when I saw the Mpesa message as well. That morning was full of laughter and excitement in my family because of the funds.  

  With the inconsistent flow of income, give directly funds has enabled me to provide food for my large family. My intentions are to alternate the money in buying food for my family and paying rent for one of my daughters who is in college. She is in her last year in college and supporting her for the remaining year will be an advantage for to complete her teaching course successfully.  

Food insecurity is the biggest impact caused by my inconsistent flow of income. Currently, my wife is unemployed and the breadwinner. My work entails going to the market and buying livestock at a lower price and selling them when the market is high, with ten children and the hard economic times it has been struggling to educate them and feed them. Some of my children have dropped out of school because of financial constraints and have been forced to look for jobs to support themselves. I spent my entire amount of KES 1200 on food, which would last my family for six days.
