GiveDirectly does well buy giving us unconditional cash transfer to help us meet our basic needs and I do not find anything that was not done well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spend my second transfer on building two better and spacious houses for my family. We used to live in a small house that could not host all my family members comfortably and the rest of the money I used it to buy two goats and food for the family.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily is that I have built a decent spacious house for my children. We used to live in a small house as a family and our comfort was slowly wearing out because of the size of our house. My children did not have a good place to carry on their private studies due to a lot of disturbances. My resources are limited thus meeting family daily basic is too overwhelming to remain with some to build a house. Currently, my children have a good place to sleep and to do their private studies without any disturbances. I no longer shy away when I have visitors because I have a decent house and enough space to host them unlike before. I am so much grateful for the support from GiveDirectly because it has greatly changed my family living standards.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was early in the morning when I received a message alert on my phone. I requested my daughter to read it for me so that I would know its content. When she informed me that GiveDirectly had sent us the transfer, I became so happy.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
When I received my first transfer, I spent part of it to build a house. I bought some building materials that include iron sheets, nails, timber, doors, windows and also paid a mason to construct the house. I settled on this so that my children would be able to enjoy their privacy since we have been sleeping in the same room with them. Also, I used some amount on farming by buying some maize seeds and hired a tractor to till my farm. As a way of investing this money, I bought a heifer. When it reproduces, I will be able to sell milk and use the money to cater fo some household necessities. I used the remaining amount to buy some foodstuffs and clothes for my family. I have saved some amount that I am intending to use in case of an emergency.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will be able to pay school fees for my grand child in secondary school. With the remainder,I will build a kitchen and buy a heifer as a way of saving up for the future
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening. All the work I do in the farm all day really strains me and I hardly get time to rest in between jobs.At the end of the day, having accomplished what I needed to do as well as earned for the day,I take a rest and this makes me very happy
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced is drought.I normally rely on farming to provide food for our family but for a few years now I have not had any harvest. As a result I have been forced to perform odd jobs in other farma even at my old age to get something to eat.
