What does receiving this money mean to you?
"When I receive the money, the first thing that I will do is to seek advanced medical assistance. I am not well. I was diagnosed with 'body infection'. I have spent all my earnings trying to get well. I was forced to send my children to live with relatives to because of lack of finance. So if I receive this money, my health will be first on the list of things I plan to do. Next, I will try to build my house. The house in which I currently live was built in 2006 by 'World Vision' as part of their quick impact project for . It has deteriorated over time. So I've been hoping to build my own house so that I can have good place to live and bring some of my kids near me."
What is the happiest part of your day?
"The news about GiveDirectly coming to our village brought me the greatest happiness this year. Even before GiveDirectly reached here, we heard the news about what they can do. How they provide unconditional cash transfer to the needy to help themselves. So with GiveDirectly in my village today, I am certain that I will get the needed money to get medical help".
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
"My health remains the number one challenge I'm currently faced with. I have been struggling with this strange condition for more than three years. Initially, I did not know what it was. I tried all kind of traditional medicine but all to no avail. I was finally diagnosed with body infection last year. I have spent all I've ever earned trying to seek solution. I don't have enough money to continue the treatment. Therefore, this condition remains my primary challenge till this date"
