What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer on purchasing a bed and a mattress. In my entire life since marriage, I have never owned neither a bed nor a mattress. I have survived all my nights spreading tattered clothes on the cold floor, something I have hated a lot as it brought me so many cold related infections that costed me a lot in treating. Am so proud and confident today as I sleep comfortably on a well made bed.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I had just woken up from my tattered clothes spread on the floor as usual, the rain had dropped in the previous night allowing in water to flow all over the floor where we slept. In amidst of confusion, running up and down to find a solution for draining out these waters, my spouse who by then was busy on phone reaching out to the relatives for any financial support to help us acquire proper bedding, rushed in and happily informed me that our first transfer was sent. We both celebrated and heartfully thanked GiveDirectly for the timely support.
