What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent KES 30000 of my transfer on buying two dairy cows which I am currently rearing. I opted in keeping them in y compound because they will be of great help in the future for my children's education and also for any other financial needs in my household at large. I also bought some bedding such as a bed and mattress. Since I have been married I have been using the traditional beds which I was not comfortable I used to have some sleepless nights and also complaining of some back pains. I then also paid school fees for my son who is in primary school and this being his final year. I am spending the remaining amount of money on buying some foodstuffs and some other household basic needs.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Having dairy cows makes the biggest difference in my daily life. This is because I know I can readily depend on them just in case of any emergency. Since my son is still in primary school next year he will be joining form secondary school, My plan is tin sell the milk that I will be getting and save the money for him so that he can join school when the time comes. I believe this will uplift my living standard and I will also be able to cater to any other need in my homestead from the money that I will be acquiring from the sale of milk.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was doing my normal daily chores and preparing my son fr school for school. I asked my son to check who could have sent the message early that morning. After checking, he realizes I had finally received my first transfer which I had been anxiously waiting for. I was so happy and thanking GD for fulfilling their promise.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Food insecurity being our biggest hardship has resulted into my family starving for up to 3 days. This is due to insufficient rainfall that makes it difficult for us to get enough food.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Despite all my problems I am a very jovial person. This is achievable through my friends who keep me happy during our free time.
What does receiving this money mean to you?
My husband is quite experienced in livestock business and we plan to revive it using our transfer. We will purchase average sized galla goats and rear them to maturity for sale. This project will stabilize our income.
