How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different from how it was four months ago in that I now have some quality potato seeds. I am glad since I will no longer have to buy them from the agro vet. In addition to this, my family can now sit comfortably on our seats since I have been able to buy some cushions. Lastly, my family now owns a water tank courtesy of GiveDirectly. As a result of this, my work is now easier since I no longer go to the river to fetch water during the rainy season.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My addition goal in life is to buy a heifer. This will be a permanent mark of GiveDirectly in my life. When it reproduces and increase in number, I will be selling the heifers and use the money to cater for my children's school fees.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am now a happy and contented wife. This is because I have been able to buy some seat cushions for my seats. I was able to achieve this using the savings I was given in our table banking group. Before, I would have to borrow them from my neighbors in case I had a visitor. I was at time ashamed of this act and I was never comfortable with it.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, my life will have changed. This is because I will have harvested my maize and beans and my family will be having enough food to last us till the next harvesting season. I was able to increase the size of land under farming this year since I would afford the farm inputs. I am also optimistic that I will have bought a heifer.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Since we received GiveDirectly transfers, we have been enjoying peace in our household, something we never enjoyed before. We have had several instances where we sit down with my husband to plan what to do next. This peace of mind has really changed a lot of things and comparing our current lives and the past four months, we see a lot of differences. We have managed to lease a piace of land which we have already planted potatoes which will be ripe in a month's time. We are now expecting quite a good harvest which will really help us in developing other areas in our daily lives.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
GiveDirectly has been a source of light since it came to this village, everyone talks about it and would wish to work hard to see that they accomplish the dreams they have been having since their childhood. Being one of the blessed villagers I have also been working so hard to see that I accomplish the project which I started and also to start more new ones. I currently have a new goal to purchase a heifer. I have always wanted to keep livestock in our household, a breed that will regenerate and be many with time. This thought has been enhanced by the fact that I am foreseeing a day when I will be paying more school fees for my children and a lot of money which can be from the assets I have will be needed. This is one of the plans I am putting in place to serve that need in future. Thank you GiveDirectly for coming into our lives.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
We had been enjoying the use of clean water all along until when the construction of a road around our home started. The machinery which was used in the construction destroyed all the pipes which were conveying water to our doorsteps. This forced us to source water from the far distance rivers which were consuming most of our daily time. On receiving the transfers, I decided to obtain a large water tank holding 5000 Liters of water so that I could use as a reservoir. Although I am still paying on down payment for it, it is so far the biggest difference in my daily life since I am no longer going to the river to fetch water.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
Since my children are now growing older, their maturity comes with more needs. At the moment the most pressing need is having a separate house for my sons where they will be sleeping. We have been living all along in one grass-thatched house together which was so small for us all. In addition, we have never enjoyed our privacy since the only partition in the house to create another room is made by a bed sheet. We have a plan to construct them a new house so that we hope to see it ready before December - the months which they will both be undergoing their right of passage into the manhood.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Every woman who has enough water for domestic use is a happy woman! When we started receiving the transfer from Givedirectly, a group of us decided to start a small merry go round group where we used to save some amount of the transfer. Every month, one member would be given that month's savings to do or buy something that is of significance to him/her. When my turn came, I immediately bought a water tank. Now I don't have to make several very tiring trips to the river and I use the time that would otherwise be wasted going to and from the river to work in the farm. I am so happy with the development.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I am planning to buy a cow in the near future. Currently, I have one cow and I know the importance of a cow especiallynwith the kind if proceeds it gives, I want to buy one other dairy cow so that I can increase the returns from dairy farming and be able to fend for my children and even others who may need assistance in future.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that we have enough water and well balanced food for our family on day to day basis. I also some money at the end of each day because I have known the importance of savings now that I own a water tank from the little amount that I always save. Before I started receiving the transfer, I had very little utensils in my home, so whenever I receive the monthly by transfer, I always ensure to buy some utensils, now I have enough utensils and I won't have to go borrowing utensils from my neighbors whenever I have visitors.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
One of my daughters is sitting for her Kenya Certificate of Primary School this year, my expectation is for her to really do well in her exams. This will motivate me to work extra hard and ensure that I provide all the basic needs to them. I also want to buy a piece of land when resources allow. Currently we live in a small piece and I cannot maximize my dairy farming skills with such. When I get buy some piece of land, then I will be able to do much more with dairy and crop farming.
