How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I had planned to build a new house. The house that I lived in has broken down. It was very old and the roof had leakages all over. Therefore, I have been working so hard to save enough money and renovate my house. However, when I received my recent transfer from GiveDirectly, I decided to build a new house. I bought 3 bundles of zinc for my house project. My balance transfer was used to pay my children tuition and also buy a big and comfortable mattress for my family.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly has done good by helping me to build my house and pay my children tuitions. With their great financial assistance, I was able to purchase additional materials for my home. I am so blessed to be part of this program. My life has changed completely.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I needed money to build my house. Moreover, I also needed money to pay my children yearly tuition. Hence, when I received my recent transfer from GiveDirectly, I used portion of my money to pay my children WAEC fees. I also used a huge portion of my transfer to purchase zinc (3 bundles) for $31,500LD. My balance transfer was used to buy a big and comfortable mattress for me and my family to relax at night.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I don't have any new goals. My goal has always been to see my children live a better life. I don't want my children to suffer in poverty like I did my entire life. I have not been in the position to help my children. Our house is not in a good condition. There's no money to renovate it or build a new house. Things have been really hard on us. I was so excited when I received my transfer. I know that everything will be okay. Our lives will never be the same again.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly is not doing anything unwell. Things have been hard on us. Some days we barely have food to eat. With GiveDirectly's cash program, our lives have become better. It is giving us money and asking for nothing in return. This is amazing. I am thankful for this amazing opportunity. With this program, after receiving all of our transfers our lives will improve.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Things have been hard on us. All I ever wished for is to see my children live better lives. I have not been able to give them that life because of poverty. Our house has spoiled. I don't have money to build a new one. My children out of school and there's no money for their tuition. I was overwhelmed when I received my transfer. I am so excited for this amazing opportunity. After receiving all of the transfers our lives will never be the same again. I used some of my money to pay their tuition. I saved a little. Hopefully, when I receive rest of the transfers I will buy materials to build a new house and start a new business.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
When I received the transfer alert, my whole family and I were very excited. I could see the joy in every one eyes. That was one of the emotional moment of my life.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my life since I started receiving payment from GiveDirectly is that before this transfer, my family and I have been living in poverty, we barely ate good meal, my kids were always put out of school because what I earned from farming couldn't paid their school fees and feed them. With nine children, I only have a room to shared with them, we all slept on a mat with no mattress to sleep on. With this transfer, I was able to buy mattresses and the eight children that are of school going ages are all registered and had started school already. I am planning on building a bigger house for all the children to get a sleeping place of their own. This has been one of the major problems of my life.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I bought zinc for the house I am planning to built, registered all my nine (9) children in school, bought all their school materials.I also bought mattress for me and my wife.
