How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different in that I am able to settle at college and study without missing classes due to fees problems, this has enabled me to attend all practical classes and I believe upon my graduation I shall have gotten enough skills in the construction business. Without these transfers I would have not joined college because I had to do daily casual work to feed my family and it is the transfer that enabled us to expand our family fish business that we currently depend on. There is more peace in my family since both of us are busy and have no time to cause disharmony unlike previously when I was the sole breadwinner.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Givedirectly did well because they supported the poor families. I do not see what Givedirectly did wrong.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer in settling my college accommodation costs, fees and transport from home to college because my dream was to be a mason which I believe shall fetch me more money in construction. I also expanded my wife fish business that has seen her improve from retailer to wholesale business, she used to purchase her stock locally, but with the transfer, she has gone regionally importing the much-needed fish from Uganda. This business have supported my family during this time that I am at the college.
