How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
There is an improvement in my life as compared to the past in the way that that I can now manage to provide enough food and other basic necessities for the whole household..In the past, I used to struggle with having breakfast in the morning as mostly, there wasn't anything that we could eat wth my children..But now we are even able to eat 3 times a day.
Also, I have been able to buy a new land for farming a thing that I have always wanted as I always had low produce as the area was a bit small..So for now I have also bought 2 bags of fertilizers, seeds and paid labourers who will be tilling and making ridges in my farm.
Lastly, being old, I have had a challenge when it comes to my health as I have been having issues with my legs and eyes(sight). So with the money, I managed to visit private hospitals where they managed to give me medicine and attend to my issues..As I am talking, I now feel better and strong and it's all thanks to Givedirectly.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
I think what givedirectly do well is providing cash even to eldest people like myself.. What Givedirectly did to me empowered me and made me feel valued.
Also the provision of the phone and simcard is a good thing, as It helps me to communicate with other relatives who stays in far away vilages.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
With my second transfer, I bought building materials such as windowframes, wires, nails timbers and doorframes which I intend to use in building a brand new house.
Part of the money, has been used in making bricks and paying labourers who will be working on my house.
