How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
I had an accident in the year 2015. As a result, I stopped doing my business in livestock and chicken trading and started relying on my shoe mending job. Income from this job, however, was not enough. I had been under a long time of food insufficiency until when GD, came. I am a happy person as I can provide for my family just like before. In fact, I have a chicken project that I rub. I started the venture with the money from GiveDirectly. Today, as we speak, I have some eggs that I have already collected. This daily income form the project is giving me a good lively hood, unlike back when I used to rely on my job as a cobbler. I am been able to pay school fee for my child too!.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My additional goal is to join a group in order to raise money enough to buy a cow. We have already talked about it with my neighbors and will start the contributions with the coming transfer.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the ability to pay school fees for my child in a secondary school. I have used the last four months transfers to pay for her school fees with ease despite having a disability. I would not have gotten any money and I am certain that she would have stayed home without a chance of education. Several years ago, I was involved in a road accident that left me physically challenged hence cannot actively engage in serous activities, I quit my lucrative business in big faraway markets and resorted to shoe mending in a local market. My childs education suffered as a result but GibeDireectly made it possible. I am so happy to see her go to school just like I had planned for her before the accident.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to have improved in the next six months,.My poultry project will have expanded and my daily income will be higher. In addition to this, I will be a livestock keeper as I will have a cow that will be heading towards milk production. I am confident because all is set now for a mwrry go round group to raise money for each one of the members to buy a cow. My life will have improved greatly.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently in that I have been able to feed my family during the recent famine. Using the transfers, I bought some foodstuffs with each transfer keeping my family well fed over the last four months. Being physically challenged, my family is very vulnerable because my wife's income is not enough for all the needs especially during hard times such as the recent drought.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My next goal is to start a shoe mending and shining business. I intend to do this because I can't do a lot using my artificial leg supported by crutches. I want to do this in order to add to my income sources.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the constant source of income form the poultry keeping that I initiated using the transfers. As we are speaking now, work is going on to improve my poultry house. I bought a wire mesh and I am enclosing an area of 30 meters in perimeter. This will allow me to keep my birds safe and well. I will no longer have conflicts with my neighbor because if the chickens are free, they are destructive to some crops. I am already making money from the investment since I collect more than ten eggs a day and thus will meet my daily needs quite easily.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I will have started a business. Selling shoes and mending them is one of the ways in which I will be generating an income. I also expect to be doing well with egg production in the next six months.

My life currently is different from how it was four months ago in that my children are at school and also can supply enough food for my family. In the past, it was challenge to pay school fees but now it is easier because I pay school fees every month using the cash transfers hence they are not sent home. I can also support my wife to buy food for my family from part of the transfers. In the past, my wife could provide everything for the family with little money she gets from casual work in the village. Thank you Give Directly for the cash transfers since I can now support my wife to buy food for the family.
