How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
If i could not have received the money from give directly I could still be experiencing household conflict because I could not have managed to pay dowry to my in laws. I could also not have managed to repair my motorcycle which has not been operational for quite sometime and I am very sure I could still unable to operate it and get money for my daily up keep.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion give directly did very a very good think by giving people money and not give us tangible goods or even building for us house because people have different priorities.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent most of the transfer to buy cattle which I used in paying dowry for my spouse. I have been having a big problem with her since I had not been able to pay dowry for several years being that I could not afford. I was having a lot of pressure from her parents that they even wanted their daughter back if I could not pay dowry. This was now bringing conflict in my house that I did not have peace as much as we were staying together. So I decided to spend the money to pay dowry for my wife and now we are now staying peacefully. I have also earn respect from my in laws. The remaining balance I spent to repair motorcycle that has not been operational for quite sometime since it had mechanical issue and I could not afford to repair it. Since I repaired it I am able to operate it and getting some money out of it for my daily up keep, I am now having a stable source of income my family can not stay the whole day without eating anything.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I am going to repair my motor bike that I used to run, I shall also be able to start my wife fish business since the family demands on me alone are overwhelming. I will use the remaining money to start vegetable farming.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest part of the day is usually in the morning as I am able to go out to work and fend for my family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship has been the breakdown of my motor bike and poor yields due to too much rains. This has strained my family since at times we lack money for food or even to buy medicine to the children.
