Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Through this financial support, I was in position to visit a specialized doctor who diagnosed me with cervical cancer.I under went surgery with easy, something that has saved my life. I would be in debts for the surgery had I not received money from GiveDirectly. Furthermore, I have bought construction materials that are going to be used for constructing a separate house for me and my spouse.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my money, I became happy because it came at a time when I was sick. I was relieved knowing that I had got money to seek proper treatment.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my transfer to pay for my surgery at UGX 500,000, bought 18 pieces of iron sheets and 2 trips of bricks at UGX 1,325,000. I have not yet spent UGX 375,000 but I intend to spend it with the second transfer to add construction materials and pay for labour.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to build one more house for my family. The plan is to build one for myself and then leave the one that I am currently occupying for the children. Both my children and I are now grown up and sharing a house is very inconviniencing.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest in the evening when I have customers. I brew local alcohol and getting it sold really feels good to me. It is an achievement.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is lack of money. I have only one house which I share with my children. I have not been able to build another one because I don't have money. The little that I get is spent on school fees and provision of other household needs. I can not save.
