How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than how it would have been becasue the finances enabled me to sleep under a permanent, well-plastered spacious house. Initially, I used to sleep under a small roundhouse and this forced some of my family members to always seek shelter from relatives which were so hectic. To add to that, during the rainy seasons, I used to be rained on till dawn and these were the worst moments of my life. I used to be attacked by some pneumonia together with my children as a result of the cold night. From these hardships that we went through, I had to spend the largest amount of money constructing a permanent house once and for all. I am now happier becasue I am ling with all my family members finally and I no longer worry about the rains or even insecurities issues.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well the whole of the exercise. There was transparency in all the stages that I went through before I recived the money and I was pleased. Also, I was offered enough teachings in regards to the transfers usage and how to safely keep the money. I do not any sector that the organization needs to change.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent part of my second transfer on buying some building materials such as iron sheets, bricks, bags of cement, nails,, and timber. This was for the construction of a new house because the initial one was not spacious enough considering I had a big family. Therefore some of my children used to sleep at their grandmother's house which somehow a challenge. I also paid the mason KES 16000 as his labor charge. With the remaining amount, I paid school fees and bought enough foodstuffs for my children.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was exactly 12 noon when I was preparing lunch for my children then my phone started ringing weirdly. On checking, I confirmed that it was the Mpesa message from GiveDirectly that I had anxiously been waiting for. I felt wow! I just wish you could see how I reacted. Due to the excitement that we had, we even skipped the meal of the day.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The fact that I now own a better spacious house has really brought the biggest in my daily life. Previously I used to stay in a small house with a critical condition and almost collapsing. I had been yearning to have my own permanent house for a long time but I did not have the required materials to construct one. Since I am the breadwinner of the family, it was frustrating. I had no hopes of constructing a decent house in my life. The little amount of money that I was earning used to cater to my family's needs such as chasing foodstuffs. I am now happy for the coming of GD in my life since it has transformed my life in numerous ways. I am now sleeping under an iron-roofed house and I no longer worry about the rains which have been a bother in my entire life.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent part of my forst transfer on buying some building materials such as iron sheets, building poles, nails, and threads. This was purposely for the construction of the new house because the previous one was in bad condition and very small. Also, I bought some bedding such as a new wooden bed and a mattress. These were to replace the old mats that I have been using for all those years. In addition to that, I bought some goats that would serve as assets that I can lean on in case of financial difficulties. I also cleared school fees for my children who are still in primary, this will enable them to study without any disturbances. With the remaing amount, I bought enough foodstuffs for the family.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means a descent and a spacious three bedroom house for my family. I'm planning to spend 500 dollars to construct this house which will sustain my family. One room will be available for my husband and I while the other two rooms will accommodate my children. This will refrain my children from the problems of seeking sleeping space from the neighborhood.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the afternoon. This is the time I engage my children in stories and loughing together as we enjoy the afternoon.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in my life is lack of a decent and spacious house for my family. The house I own is in bad condition with a leaking roof and unable to sustain my entire family.
