How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
There is a little difference of the plans I had before and now since I had no money to do all the things I have accomplished now. I have managed to build a house buy livestock and provide fully for my family ever since I started getting the transfers.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Give Directly has helped alot of people to better their lives so I will congratulate and appreciate them alot for that. May the organisation continue putting smiles on people's faces.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used the recent transfers to buy a sofa-set, two goats, grocery shopping and used the rest to finish building the house I started with the first transfer.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
With my family at home that morning, we were very happy to receive a message from GiveDirectly that confirmed the receipt of the first transfer. It would have been a hard day for us was it not for the transfer since we had nothing at all to cook in the household that morning. It was a great celebration as we thanked God for the timely provision when we dearly needed some money to buy foodstuff. I went ahead to withdraw and at the top of our list was to buy enough foodstuff that will still take us for some days as we carry on other plans that we had.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the purchase of a heifer that is a potential producer of milk in the future. we had hoped to invest in livestock but the scarcity of resources and the pressing needs within the household that would not allow us to save had been a challenge to us. I am grateful to GiveDirectly that has given us a chance to venture into this project that we hope to change a lot in the future.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
After buying milk for a long time for my family of five, we decided after a discussion with my family to obtain a heifer that we will rear as an income source in the future. This came out strongly in our discussion since we considered it not only for the milk that we will be using but also as a source of extra income through milk selling and a long-term investment that can multiply after breeding. I spent KES25000 to obtain a heifer that is growing so fast giving us hope of having plenty supply of milk soon. I also purchased two sacks of maize at KES2500 and other household goods that we needed, purchased a piece of furniture worth KES15000, and used the remaining amount on settling the debts that I had with my neighbors.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving these transfers means my goal of furnishing this house will come true.I have one bench with no table on this house. This embarrasses me a lot especially when guest are around because I have to go around the village borrowing seats and tables I have worked as a teacher for nine years under the Parents Teachers Association at Kayepa and Kamaget primary school. The monthly salary is usually KES 4000 and this is just sufficient to meet the food requirements for my family of 5.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I have been a teacher for nine years teaching Kiswahili and Mathematics in the upper primary school. I spent my entire day in school teaching, marking, and doing co-curriculum activities. This is usually very exhaustive .The happiest part of my day is in the evening when I get to rest .
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Unemployment is the biggest hardship I have faced in life. I completed a primary certificate course in 2014 and since then I have been moving from one school to another in search for better pay. Initially I joined a young school where I work under Parent Teacher Association earning KES 3500 . It is difficult to get payments on time because we depend on the pupils to pay the fee.Unemployment has hindered most of my goals since I do not have sufficient funds to enable me achieve them.Taking my children to a private school for quality education and providing a better shelter for my family has been impossible.
