My major plan was for me to build a decent house for my family, so far I don't have any new goal at the moment, I am grateful for the support that gave us prosperity and a promising future for our children.

GiveDirectly organization are true to their words, we were promised that we would get the unconditional transfer and they indeed kept their promise. Indeed they are God sent, thus I have not witnessed any unprofessionalism.

Upon receiving my transfer, I used KES 20,000 in building a decent house for my family, this is because the house that I was living in before was small to contain my three children and me, I had started constructing the house with the initial transfer. I am happy and relieved that I now have a decent place to call home, I was unable to build one before due to financial constraints. Finally, I used the remaining part of the transfer in buying foodstuffs and clothes. I am grateful for the support that brought happiness to our lives by lifting our living standards.

Receiving the first transfer came as a surprise to me since I had very little hope when I was enrolled and told to just wait for such a huge sum of money without doing anything to earn it. Even though other villagers had received the same amount, I still felt that there could be something they were still hiding and was yet to see it unfold. I informed my children who were filled with joy making them celebrate as they thanked God for what I had just received. I was not so fast in collecting but ensured that my account was secured until I was sure that it had no strings attached. After some days of mass spending by my neighbors, I became certain that indeed the money was free and had to spend on anything I needed as I was initially told. I withdrew them after chatting a way forward with my children and got down to spend. I am grateful that GiveDirectly kept their word since I was enrolled until I received the first transfer.

The biggest difference in my daily life is the construction of a new house - spacious enough for my family of four. I am glad that I am almost completing the construction of the new house and will be moving in a month or two times into the new structure once I am done with the painting and bringing in a new piece of furniture to replace the old one.

Upon the withdrawal of my first transfer, I obtained 32 iron sheets and nails at KES47000 that facilitated the construction of a new three-room house - spacious enough for my family of four. I had been living in a smaller one that has served my family both as a kitchen and a living room and this came as an opportunity to construct a better one that has an extra room that can give some private space to my growing daughters. Since I had other household goods to purchase, I had to spend part of my savings on paying the labor charges on the construction, and later obtained foodstuff worth KES3000 and new pairs of clothes for all my three children at KES4500. I am looking forward to the second transfer that will be useful in furnishing both the interior and the exterior parts of the house before we move out from the old one.
