I have added new goals thanks to Give directly sending me these two transfers. The first goal was to own my piece of land where I can build and farm for my family. A place to call my own. The second goal was to repay the rent debt I had accumulated for some months. During this drought season, it has been had to earn some income. The last goal was to own goats which I was able to buy two of them.

I would not have been able to buy land for my family and also pay the rent arrears that had accrued due to a lack of many incomes at home. I used debt. The work Give directly does is worthy of praise as they have helped put us where we were not before. I am thankful to you Give directly.

With this last transfer, I was able to finish buying one acre of land. I had earlier paid KES.40000 from the first transfer and was remaining KES.30000 which I was able to clear. Owning my piece of land has been a dream but is now a reality. I was also able to buy two goats and paid my rent areas worth KES.4000. The rest of the money was spent on buying water tanks for storing water during this drought.

it was around 9:45 AM when I was from the dam in the next village which is 10KM from my home when I heard a message tone. I opted to ignore the notification since I was so tired. Later on, another message popped in, I was a bit curious and deiced to check. I realized that it was from GiveDirectly, I had finally received my first transfer as promised earlier. I was overwhelmed with joy becasue I was certain my life would never be the same again. I later shared the news with my two children who could also not contain their joy.

My life has been full of sorrows and for a long time now, nothing significant was going on in my life and I had lost hope. As a single parent who has been depending on selling charcoal in the local market, I could not make long time goals since I could squander all my income in catering for my daily needs. On a good day, I used to earn KES 200. This was not enough in sustaining my family's needs and pay school fees for my two children. I had been yearning to at last own a piece of land since the current one was for my friends who could sometimes change and demand some money. I would at times be threatened to be thrown out if I couldn't pay. I never had peace because I didn't have anywhere to run to. Apart from that, during the planting seasons, I was not able to do any farming because at times I could not afford to lease land. This eventually facilitated the prolonged poverty and unavailability of food in my household. I am now a happy mother because I am even planning to build a new hose on this piece of land that I had already bought using the transfers. I will start practicing farming and I believe that through this my children will no longer starve like before. All these achievements are the biggest difference in my life.
