How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is much better and relaxed because I was able to officially marry my wife. I paid all the dowry and this has relieved me from the in-laws' pressure. The family is much happier because we reclaimed all the plots of land that had been attached as collateral for the loans we acquired.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
This money has brought a wonderful change in my life, I have got back the farm land that was given out as security after repaying a debt. I now have two cows that I intend to use for paying dowry for my wife as it is a tradition in my community for a man to pay dowry for the wife. Before I got the cash transfer, people in my community underrated me in the way they talked that I can not manage to marry a wife and I could feel bad. I thank GiveDirectly for the transfer that has redeemed my self esteem.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will straight away construct a permanent house which is iron roofed because the house Iam living in is grass thatched. Getting grass has become difficult and also the house it's self is small and cannot house all my family members. My plan is also to recover some gardens that I staked because I had taken somebody's money.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Lunch time is my happiest part of the day. It's the time when all of us share a meal as a family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My biggest hardship is lack of adequate land for crop cultivation. I don't have enough gardens to help me produce food for the family.
