Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was home with my husband and child when we heard the SMS notification alert. We immediately knew it was the first transfer because everyone in our village was screaming of joy. My husband could not believe his eyes and had never believed a stranger could actually do such a good deed. We started planning on how to use the money right after withdrawing which was the very same day we received the transfer. We were able to renovate our house which was in a pretty bad shape, bought livestock and food.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
A lot has changed since I received the first transfer. I could hardly afford food for my family and was always worried my house would cave in. I am so happy and thankful to everyone at GD for this grant because my house is now standing strong and my family eats healthier.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Upon receiving my first transfer, I hired a construction worker to renovate my house and spent about 214 $ in total, I bought food worth 50 $, two pigs worth 70 $, paid 13 $ for my child's school fees and bought them school utensils for 6 $. My house was on the verge of collapsing and I urgently needed to renovate it.

What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
I will finish my house with $400, I will buy a cow of $200, I will use the rest in buying households furniture and feeding my family
What is the happiest part of your day?
I have received a call from my daughter who were in convent of Nyundo that she will graduate in August and she is ready to serve the Almighty God
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My house is not furnished yet, no cement inside the house, no door on some bedrooms, when I am sleeping, I don't feel secured, my children don't have their bed and matelas, they are not happy. I don' t have my own cow to produce fertilizer and this affected my harvest to feed my family
