How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different now in that, I'm so happy because I can tie my oxen and plow anytime I want compared to the previous days when I had to work in peoples' garden in order get a favor of being helped to plow. I and my spouse dress well nowadays unlike previous days when we wore rags as clothes. In addition to that, I started a butchery business that supports my family in providing basic needs i.e Food, small household items like soap, sugar, smearing oil among others.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GD has transformed my standards of living for example these transfers have enabled me marry a wife and own some livestock which I was unable to buy on my own. In addition to that, GD's mode of operation is so unique in that transfers are sent direct to recipients without deducting any amounts. In my view, GD did not do anything wrong, Everything went on well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
When I got this money, I decided to buy livestock which I will used some for paying dowry since I haven't married my spouse yet. The remaining livestock I will use for plowing since I have been hiring people to plow for me which is very expensive to afford. Sometimes I have to work in people's fields who own livestock so that I can also get a day for them to plow for me.
