How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
We have been able to acquire a bed and mattress of our own and other bedding, we also now have a TV set that we never used to have. We were also able to hire 1 and a half acres of land with sugarcane planted on it. this is hoped to transform our economic life as a family.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
I felt so happy and extremely overjoyed for receiving my second transfer from GD. GD is the savior of my life and family.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I bought Cement worth 200,000 Ugsh, School uniforms for my children worth 70,000 Ugsh, Treatment for my child at 200,000 Ugsh, Hired land to plant sugar canes at 660,000 Ugsh, I bought seedlings at 400,000, I paid labor for ox-plough at 60,000 Ugsh. The remaining balance we used at home on food stuffs.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means a change in standards of living for my family. I will be able to start up an income generating business that will support in providing basic needs for my family and raising school fees for my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the afternoon after farm work when I relax together with my children. During that time, I interact with them and get to know them better.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in my life is lack of land for farming and yet hiring land has become very expensive in our region as a result of the sugarcane economic activity which has inflated the prices of land. This has made provision of food for my family hard.
