How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My children were put out of school recently because I did not have enough money to pay their school fees. I have also started my house project but couldn't continue due to low income. However, when I received my transfer from GiveDirectly, I will be able to pay my children tuition for the entire school year. Moreover, I will also purchase building materials to continue my house project. I am grateful to GiveDirectly for making my life better.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Everything that GD has done thus far has been upright. The idea of being very objective in everything they do and by also not accepting favor of any kind from us but are passionate in reaching out to poor people like us is very rare. I am very amazed by GD's undertakings and I see nothing that GiveDirectly is not doing quite well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
My greatest desire is to see my children attend school regularly. It brings me so much joy and esteemed pleasure. I had also been hoping for enough money to continue my house project. Thus, when I received my transfer, I used $25,200LD to pay my children tuition for the entire academic year 2021/2022. Furthermore, portion of my transfer was used to purchase I bundle of 14 gauge zinc for $9,100LD. Finally, I bought 3 bags of cement and paid for my materials to be transported from Buchanan.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
My family and I never had a comfortable place to call home. Our house was very old and the roof needed to be replaced. Therefore, when I received my transfer from GiveDirectly, I rushed from my bed early that morning and joined the others in the town who have received transfer also. We sang new songs, danced and paraded the the main streets of the town for hours. I was glad and satisfied. I will use portion of my transfer to renovate my old house. The remaining portion will be used to construct a new and bigger house for me and my family.
