How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is now different in that, I sleep in permanent house and succeeded in repossessing my acres of land that were withheld by the creditor. Previously, I strugled renovating the thatched house annually which was very costly as well. But with the permanent house I constructed, that problem has been settled once and for all. In addition, I had one acre of land to cultivate since I gave it to the money lender as collateral for the loan I collected. This forced me to plant only a single type of crop like cassava which was not able to sustain my family.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
According to me, GiveDirectly has done well by givng us unconditional cash transfers that have enabled me afford items I lacked like beddings. On theother hand, there is nothing bad that they have done.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I used my second transfer to pay a debt, buy two mattresses, a goat and a bag of groundnut seeds. I also used it for ploughing my acres of land and I still have a balance to be used for weeding my crops.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
My life has changed in that, I sleep on a mattress which gives me comfort. Before, I had sleepless nights because the mat I slept on was hard. In addition, I got more gardens which will enable me to cultivate a variety of crops unlike in the past when I used to plant only one type of crop.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt very happy and thanked God the moment I received my transfer. This is because I was going to acquire what I did not have in my house like bedding (mattress and pair of bed sheets).
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer to rent gardens worth UGX 500,000, bought Livestock ( 2 goats) worth UGX 140,000, bought building materials ( bricks) worth 360,000, treatment worth UGX 100,000 and food worth UGX 50,000. There is a balance of worth UGX 500,000 which I'm planning to spend on building my house.
