Looking ahead, my goal for this year is to establish my own shop. Currently operating from home, I aspire to have a separate space for my business. With savings and upcoming transfers, I aim to achieve this goal. A dedicated space will enhance my business, allowing me to expand my stock and increase profits. These profits will contribute to saving for my children's education. I am deeply thankful for the support provided by this organization,it has been a big blessing for my family and I am excited about the positive changes ahead.

My husband takes care of livestock on behalf of others while I run a small business selling sardines and small pastries to support our family of nine. Life hasn't always been easy; we often struggled to put food on the table, waiting for my husband to get paid so that we could have something to eat. Paying school fees was also a challenge, and my children were frequently sent home from school. I am truly grateful that our situation has improved since we started receiving these transfers. At the end of the year, I anticipate receiving a lump sum of cash from the club, which will enable me to establish the food stand. This represents a significant improvement from my current business of selling donuts. Through careful saving, I aim to acquire the necessary equipment and provide a convenient and affordable meal option. With strategic planning and a commitment to quality, I am confident in the success of my venture and the path towards financial independence.

It would be wise to start another profitable business since I don't make enough money from selling charcoal to support my family. In this regard, I want to launch a small kiosk business selling fruits, vegetables, and fish that are fresh. I'll eventually turn the company into a fast-food restaurant and make a fortune.

Both my husband and I work odd casual jobs such as making and selling charcoal in order to make ends meet. Our family has experienced extreme hardship over the last three months as a result of significant financial difficulties. Due to the small number of buyers, selling the charcoal yields very little profit. In addition to paying very little, it is extremely tiresome and laborious and has detrimental effects on our health. I am married with four children. My husband works as a charcoal burner, which is the source of our daily income. Life as a charcoal burner can be a struggle because charcoal is not a necessity, as many people prefer to use firewood. The biggest challenge is ensuring that the family has a meal and the children are at school. After being enrolled in the support program, I distributed the money equally to my immediate needs, which are school fees and food for the family. Recently, I changed the cycle of expenditure and now I saved $10 and equally spent the rest on food and school fees.

Actually three days before receiving the funds, two of my kids had actually been kicked out school due to the fact that I had failed to settle their tuition debt. That is why as soon as I realised the donation had come through, I took away KES 1,500 and ensured I paid some part of the tuition debt. I also used KES 1,000 from the transfers I had got and used it to purchase four packets of maize flour because there was no food in the house. Lastly I used the balance of KES 500 and left it in my savings account because I was hoping later on when I had saved enough help renovate my house since it was almost collapsing.

GiveDirectly is doing well by providing the cash transfers.Personally I have hope in having a new home because of the monthly transfers. I am grateful for what this funds have done for not only me but also to the whole village.I have not seen anything I would like GiveDirectly to do differently.

I have four children who are in school, recently when I received the transfers they were all sent home due to school fees arrears of KES 4500.I used part of my transfer and paid KES 1000 in order for them to be allowed back in school.The remaining KES 2000 I paid up to my sacco because am planning to borrow money from the sacco to build a house.

I had received my first transfer at around 9am when I was just in the house. In the course of that week, I was in great need of finances since my children were just at home because I had not paid their remedial fee. Upon realization of the transf1er I felt so nice and very happy. However, in order to build my confidence that it was real the transfer had been sent to me, I consulted my helper who equally confirmed that I had received the right amount. I could not hesitate but to rather go and withdraw it.

Since I began receiving my transfer, the biggest difference in my life is clearing school fee arrears for my children in time. Since I paid their fee, they have been studying so comfortably without being sent back home. As a result, I have begun noticing some improvement in their academics. In the previous terms, they could spend quite a long time home being frequently had difficulties in paying their remedial fee. This greatly undermined their studies. I am so glad that in the next 5 years, my children will always be able to be in school no or minimal disruption.
